Fife Out and About walking and outdoor group
Thank you for your interest in Fife Out and About. We are a small Fife based walking group. Our primary activity is hill walking although we also do some low level walks as well. We aim to have a hill walk, easy hill and low level walk each month. Our walks generally take place in Fife, the Ochils, Perthshire and the Trossachs though we do travel further afield during the summer months. Our members generally reside in Fife or Tayside.
Why Fife Out and About?
We welcome new members but as we want to keep the group small and sociable we are looking for active members who will support our activities. We welcome walkers with all levels of experience but we must stress that as we do not provide led walks that you are responsible for your own safety and welfare whilst on the walks.
We are affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland, the representative body for hill walkers in Scotland, and benefit from their club public/civil liability insurance. This means that our members have insurance cover for both their personal responsibilities and most importantly their collective legal responsibilities incurred through being a member of a group. By joining us you will become a “club member” of Mountaineering Scotland and will be entitled to a number of benefits including a discount scheme.
You don't need to be a super-fit mountain athlete to walk with us. Our harder walks are generally at an easy pace rather than focusing on "ticking" as many summits as possible. However, we do not walk on manicured paths or follow waymarked routes so you will need to be prepared for some rough and potentially off-path walking at times.
Prospective members may walk with us as a guest for up to two walks.
We have a number of “organisers” who administer the group and organise the walking programme. Organisers should not be considered to be walk leaders. We are more informally organised than a “traditional club” though we do try to ensure that members have a say in important decisions affecting the group. Disputes within the group will be dealt with by “natural justice”.
Group finances are held in our bank account to which at least 2 of our organisers have access. Mountaineering Scotland fees will be paid over to Mountaineering Scotland within 1 month of you joining. In the event of dissolution of the group any monies will be disbursed amongst members if requested or donated to an appropriate charity e.g. mountain rescue.

- Walking as "equals" - not led walks
