Participation Agreement
Hill walking is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You accept responsibility for your own safety and join the walk at your own risk. You also have a collective "duty of care" to other members. Neither Fife Out and About or its organisers can be held liable for any mishaps.
We do not provided guided/led walks. If you choose to rely on more experienced members of the party then you accept the risk that that entails.
By joining our walks you agree to abide by the provisions of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and the concept of minimal impact .
You must be adequately clothed / equipped for the walk and the weather. For hill walks the kit list on the Mountaineering Scotland website should be used (this may be scaled down for short / low level walks). The walk organiser may decline to take you on the walk if you are not adequately equipped.
Well behaved dogs are welcome provided the Scottish Outdoor Access Code section 3.54 to 3.56 is adhered to at all times ie kept under close control (responding to your command and kept close to heel) or on a short lead (2m or less). You should seek the walk host's agreement in advance before bringing a dog on a walk and no more than 2 dogs will be permitted on any walk.
If you have a health condition that could be affected by walking, you must ensure that at least one other person is aware of this and what action to take if necessary e.g. asthma. The group does not provide qualified first aiders so you should carry your own essential first aid items. Some walks will be in remote areas where assistance may not be immediately available and mobile phones may not work.
Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult who accepts full responsibility for their safety and well being. If you wish to bring an under 16 you should advise the walk organiser in advance. Walks will take place at an adult pace.
It is your responsibility to be at the start point in time for the walk. If you are at the wrong place or turn up late, the group may leave without you.
