Privacy Policy
Fife Out and About recognises its obligations under the new GDPR regulations. We aim to minimise the amount of data that we store on our members.
When you take out membership we will ask you for some personal information including name, address, telephone, email and date of birth. This information is required to register you with Mountaineering Scotland who are a registered Information Controller. We do not retain this information in our own records although our organisers / officials do have access to it via our “membership portal” on their database.
In the event of you being involved in an incident whilst on a group meet (walk) we may pass on your contact information from the Mountaineering Scotland system to emergency services e.g. mountain rescue, health services, police. For this reason it is also recommended that you log in to your membership record and enter your emergency contact information.
When we register you, we will “sign you up” for receipt of the quarterly magazine by post. Optionally, you may manage your own membership to receive a digital copy of the magazine and / or a monthly members news email.
Mountaineering Scotland’s privacy statement can be viewed at https://www.mountaine....
Our own group records consist of a password protected spreadsheet which contains only your name. We record a note of when you last paid your membership fee, how much you paid and whether we have registered you with Mountaineering Scotland.
We maintain an email mailing list using Google services. When you join we will add you to the list. The email list is used to send out notifications of new walks (as a Google calendar notification), a monthly newsletter and occasional important updates. If you leave us we are happy to keep you on the list if you wish. Likewise prospective members may also request to be added to the list. If you wish to be removed from the mailing list please let us know, however, we will not add you back on again within the current membership year.
Your attention is drawn to the fact that you may appear in photographs that appear on our website and facebook pages, and on members own social media pages. If this is a problem for you then you should talk to the photographer who is requested to respect your wishes.
Members and prospective members are invited to join our Facebook group which is a closed group. Information posted to this group is only visible to members of the Facebook group and cannot be shared outwith the closed group. However, please bear in mind that the facebook group may have a wider "membership" than our actual group membership.
If you pass on your email / contact phone no etc to an organiser or other member this is for personal reasons and not for group administration.
